Well, it is already the middle of February and harvest 2010 moves ever closer!
The 2010 season has proved a difficult one with lower than usual temperatures and sunshine hours as well as higher than usual humidity. The vineyard staff are busy trimming, leaf plucking and mowing in preparation for putting on the nets.
The winery is fining and filtering preparing for bottling and clearing tanks ready for harvest.
We wish Matt Elrick (Assistant Winemaker) and his family all the best for their move to Blenheim and Matt’s new job at Marlborough Vintners Ltd. We welcome Euan Parker as our new Assistant Winemaker just in time for vintage.
Recently we had a visit from an enthusiastic American couple from California who had purchased a case of our Sherwood Estate 2008 Pinot Noir there. They had tracked us down for a visit on their holiday to New Zealand just to tell us how much they enjoyed our wine! We gave them a taste of the soon to be bottled 2009 Pinot Noir and they thought it tasted fantastic. They said that they would be sure to buy a case on it’s release in the US.
