Winter News
Well vintage is well and truly over. Our French and German vintage workers have headed home, they did a great job.
May was unusually cold and wet and the beginning of June surprisingly warm and mild. However, another southerly blast is upon us and there is snow on the Teviotdale Hills once more.
In the winery they are busy blending Sauvignon Blanc and trying to keep warm. Matt says that this is the “serious winemaking part of the year.
In the vineyard pruning has started. Mark, Petter and Dan have spent many hours walking the vineyards reviewing last season and planning the next. They are always looking to improve vineyard management and production. Pruning philosophy and management as well as soil management are at the top of their agenda.
Another olive harvest has begun with the pressing and bottling being done by a contractor.
Mark Jones has been busy since his return from overseas. He says it was a very successful trip. He attended a wine dinner at the British Club in Singapore (menu available under the “Events” button) and met with clients in Dubai on the way to London. The London Wine Show went very well and then he returned home via Hong Kong where he met with clients as well.
Finally, we are all looking forward to passing the shortest day next week!
