News Update

The warmer weather has made the winery a very busy place indeed!


Dan says that the warmer weather has made the growth accelerate. Consequently there is wire lifting going on as well as sulphur and oil spraying. There is also a lot of shoot thinning to do. Dan thinks that the vines will flower over Christmas.


The boys in the winery are starting the ’09 Pinot Noir blends and the Heritage 09 Chardonnay is warming up for malo. There is a lot of bottling going on as well with the ’09 Sauvignon Blanc moving out of the warehouse very quickly.


Sherwood Estate is very happy with the Robert Parker ratings received in the US,


In particular the Sherwood ’08 Pinot Noir and the Heritage No.8 Wire Sauvignon Blanc which both received scores in the early 90’s.


The new Stratum label is having a very warm response from the market place. It is  a fresh new look for the label and the cartons look great.


The office is flat out as there have been a number of containers heading for the US, Australia and the United Kingdom.


The enthusiastic mountain bikers from Sherwood’s, the “Waipara VBC Slipstream” team had a very succesfull Molesworth Muster. Despite a heavy south west headwind the team collected 2nd place and a medal in the Mixed Team Category.
