| Well, the Waipara Wine and Food Festival has been and gone. What a great day!
The weather started out cloudy but warm and as the day progressed the sun emerged and we had a glorious afternoon. Everyone seemed relaxed and happy, the later start and finish times seemed a winner. We promoted our Heritage Range and Laverique with a wonderful response from the public. The weather was good, the wine was good, the music was good, the food was good and the public were fantastic! Altogether it was a resounding success.
So, now it is back to the business of preparing for harvest.
The winery is bottling, filtering and reorganising the warehouse in preparation for the coming vintage. They are moving the Heritage Pinot Noir back into barrel after blending for further softening.
The vineyard staff are netting, leaf plucking, shoot thinning and removing second set fruit. The bird scarers are very busy as usual.
The weather is being co-operative for the moment with warm days and cool nights.
Jason returns next week from his vintage in the Hunter Valley in Australia. He has had a surprisingly cool and wet vintage over there.
