| The last of our overseas vintage team has left us. Ophelie is travelling around New Zealand before a well earned rest in Tahiti!
We all wish we were going with her as winter has set in with a vengeance!
After a week of solid rain we had a few days respite, but today is again drizzly and cold.
Mark Jones has returned from his overseas trip. He started in Hong Kong and moved on to Taipei where he attended a Chinese wedding. He then flew to Europe. He arrived in Geneva first, then moved on to Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, UK (for the London International Wine Trade Fair) and then Singapore on his way home. He said it was a very successful trip with strong growth in our main distribution partners and new opportunities in parts of Europe and Asia.
In the winery they are sorting orders, doing barrel work, cleaning, filtering and blending the 2010 Sauvignon Blanc. They are also trying to keep warm!!
The vineyard staff are reviewing last seasons practices - cover crops, pruning and other sustainable techniques.
Pruning will start in Waipara very soon and is all but finished in Marlborough.
There are sheep in the Waipara vineyards at present and they are doing a great job pruning the grass.
Finally, the rainfall has been very welcome as it has done a lot to replenish the ground water in both regions. |
