Vineyard News Dan reports that things are busy as usual in the vineyard. He has just finished the second round of oil/seaweed spray. He will be mowing busily over the next few days in preparation for forecast frosts. The crew in the vineyard are half way through bud rubbing and will start wire lifting next week. Water tests indicate that water levels are good and we are three weeks away from irrigating, this is a direct contrast to last year's drought.
Winery News Jason reports that the winery is busy with filtering, bottling and blending trials. Barrel work with the Pinots, Chardonnays and Sauvignons is constant and there are always orders to fill!! Jason's cricket team, the Cheviot Magpies are having a good season so far with two wins and one loss. Last weeks crazy weather made the match hard work, with the nor'wester blowing down a huge tree in the middle of the match!
Matt, winemaker, is working hard outside his Sherwood hours, starting his own vineyard!! Dayne's advice was "just get out and do it" with a team of good mates to help. SO, next Saturday is planting day and most of the Sherwood staff will be there.
