CLEARWATER 2002 PINOT NOIR
Winemakers Notes
Our Clearwater Pinot Noir was selected from the Webbs Vineyard in Marlborough. The fruit was hand harvested late March 2002 in excellent condition.
After crushing and destemming, the fruit was transferred to four tonne open top fermenters. Over the course of the fermentation the tanks were hand plunged 4-5 times daily. Following 21 days of skin contact the fruit was pressed prior to ageing for 11 months in French oak barriques.
The 2002 Clearwater Pinot Noir captures the true essence of the variety. The nose displays rich, red berry fruit aromas integrated with careful oak handling. The palate is round and full with lovely texture and length. A wine to be enjoyed over the next 3-5 years with careful cellaring.
