CLEARWATER 2005 PINOT NOIR
Winemakers Notes
The Clearwater 2005 Pinot Noir was selected from our Stirling vineyard in Waipara. The fruit was hand harvested in excellent condition in April 2005.After crushing and destemming the fruit was transferred to four tonne open top fermenters, for a 7 day pre-fermentation soak. An indigenous primary fermentation followed over which time the cap was hand plunged 3 times a day. Following 19 days of skin contact the fruit was pressed and aged for 12 months in French oak barriques.
The 2005 Clearwater Pinot Noir captures the true essence of the variety. The nose displays rich, red berry fruit and plum aromas integrated with careful oak handling. The palate is round and full with lovely texture and length. A wine to be enjoyed over the next 3-5 years with careful cellaring.
