Tasting Notes
CLEARWATER 2004 CHARDONNAY
Winemakers Notes
The Clearwater 2004 Chardonnay was selected from our Church Road and Sterling vineyards.
The fruit was hand harvested in late April 2004 in excellent condition.
Following whole bunch pressing the juice was put directly into French oak barroques (40% new wood) for fermentation and aged on lees for 12 months. During this time the wine went through partial malolactic fermentation.
The wine was then blended, lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling.
The 2004 Clearwater Chardonnay displays ripe, tropical, stone fruit aromas on the nose supported by oak maturation. The palate is full and rounded with a long concentrated finish.
A wine to be enjoyed in the next 4-5 years with careful cellaring.
