Stratum 2011 Chardonnay
Winemakers Notes
The Stratum 2011 Chardonnay was select picked from our Glasnevin Vineyard in Waipara, North Canterbury.The fruit was machine harvested in excellent condition in mid April. After a gentle pressing the juice was settled and racked to stainless tank (80%) and barrel (20%) for an indigenous fermentation. On completion of fermentation the wine was left in contact with the yeast lees for a further 10 months to help build structure and texture in the mid palate. The wine was then lightly fined, filtered and bottled.
The Stratum 2011 Chardonnay shows ripe pear and spice aromatics with a hint of oak leading on to a full flavoured and balanced palate. A wine to be enjoyed on most occasions over the next 4 to 5 years.
